Neighbor's dog won't stop barking? Enjoy your new 3 AM wake-up call!

So my lovely neighbor's precious little yapper has been serenading the entire block every night from 11 PM to 2 AM for the past month. I've tried being nice, leaving notes, even calling animal control. Nothing worked.

Well, two can play at this game, Karen. I set up some speakers in my backyard, pointed right at her bedroom window.
  • 05
Now, every morning at 3 AM sharp, I blast an hour-long recording of various dogs barking. It's like a canine symphony out there.
  • 06
The best part? She can't complain because hey, it's just "dogs being dogs," right? That's what she kept telling me about her precious Fifi.
  • 07
It's been a week, and I haven't slept past 3 AM, but the bags under her eyes are totally worth it. Petty? Absolutely. Satisfying? You bet your sweet revenge it is.

I live in a row of houses with the backyards separated by a long fence. The neighbor who lived diagonally from me had a dog that would NOT stop barking. All day. All night. I

walked over to talk to them about it and they claimed they didn't even HAVE a dog. Funny, they don't hear any barking.
  • 11
So the next time the dog started barking I grabbed my hose with the power nozzle and started BLASTING water against their bedroom window.
  • 12
Turns out they did have a dog, and they could hear that. They took their dog inside. For the next couple of days, anytime the dog was being obnoxious, I'd
  • 13
spray their bedroom window to get their attention. They couldn't open the window for fear of everything getting drenched. They came over once to ask if it was me

doing that and I said, "what are you talking about? I don't even have a hose." They rehomed the dog to someone who had time to care for it. Honestly, a win for everyone.

Datura_Rose 4h ago Amazing! I had a similar situation once with a neighbor who wouldn't let her dogs in her fenced in backyard, she'd let them do their business all over

the street...they'd just be wandering loose. So I started collecting their piles and dumping it on her lawn. It only took a few days before she started picking up after, and one

compilation video of her dogs all over the street sent to the HOA before she started having to keep them in her yard. She did not like me. :-)

saltychica • 3h ago My neighbor's dog barks incessantly on her deck (about 10' from mine) so when she has friends over chilling on her deck, I queue up dogs barking on YouTube & let it rip on my deck.

Finally I looked up his number (in the phone book) at 2am and barked aggressively at him, then hung up. I understand your frustration.

DawnShakhar • 3h ago I helped my BIL do that. He had a neighbour who had a dog that barked all night. The neighbour worked nights and slept by day, so he wasn't bothered by it,
  • 22
but my BIL was going crazy. I downloaded dog- barks and made a half hour recording. My BIL would play it during the day when he was home and awake and the neighbour was trying to sleep.

Mattman425 • 3h ago It's weird how when dogs are out at night barking, the whole neighborhood can hear it except for the owner of the dog. How does this happen?
